The real problem is that the real sports only apply to the people that play them whereas the computer games like Wii Sports can apply to anyone at all which is having a huge impact on sport itself. How close are the comuter games compared to the real sports? Do you really get any excercise at all from playing the sport in this way? The most simple way to put it is . . . perhaps.  Obviously if you are buying say a golf game for the 360 or PS3 it is not going to do anything apart from save you money on one of those electric golf trolleys.

The thing is if you were to purchase a game containing golf the only thing you are reall missing out on is the walking part of the sport. Let’s be honest, most pros don’t bother walking any of the way as it is. With game developers keen to keep making the sporting games as realistic as possible the Wii is able to take advantage especially from this using its motion control way of playing games. When you are playing games on the Wii like golf and tennis it really does feel like you are playing the real thing at certain moments, the same is true for all sports in which you use your hands. The new attachment for the Nintendo Wii which is due out later thi year means motion sensing technology is going to advance even further. This means game developers will certainly be more inclined to make the games for the Wii even more realistic than before. So is this really having an affect on anything? It is a great idea for all the people who simply cant afford to go out and pay loads of fees. No need to even be dressed in your best golf gear to play golf on any of the consoles, a great idea.

Personally I love games, but I think that they should stick to making the games that people that play them like and leave the sporting ones out of it. It would be horrible to see a decline in people playing the sports that a lot of people love to watch due to computer games getting in the way which means there should be a limit to how real a sporting game should get.

So next time your stuck between going out in the rain for a round of golf or plugging in the Wii for a bit of a game, stop and think, the real thing is always better so charge up those golf batteries and get playing!
